China's top player Li Na failed to challenge the world number one Serena Williams at the Wimbledon Championships on Tuesday, losing the women's singles quarterfinal match in straight sets.
The ninth seed Li lost to the defending champion Williams 5-7, 3-6, about five months after being defeated by the American top seed in the semifinals at the Australian Open.
Li managed to tie with Williams after 10 games in the opening set, but made two fatal double faults in the 11th game, enabling Williams to complete the first service break.
After losing the first set 5-7, Li seemed lost her patience so as to trail behind at 2-5 after being broken twice in the second set. Although the China's one and only world Top 10 player fought hard to return a service break in the key moment, she was broken again in the ninth game to end her fourth journey at the All England Club.
Williams is going to meet the winner between Petra Kvitova and Kaia Kanepi.
