World No. 1 Rafael Nadal was stunned by Spanish compatriot Feliciano Lopez in straight sets in the quarterfinals at the ATP Queen's Club tournament on Friday while the defending champion Andy Murray lost his last 16 match which was resumed 3-3 in the decider.
The five-time French Open champion Nadal lost the match 7-6 (5), 6-4, ending his first grass-court competition this season.
Nadal couldn't split with the eighth seed Lopez in the opening set before he lost the tiebreak 7-5.
In the second set, Nadal returned one service break after being broken in the fifth game, but was broken again in the ninth game.
Lopez will meet American Mardy Fish, who knocked out the third seed Murray and the 12th seed Michael Llodra in the same day.
Fish took the first set 6-4 against Murray on Thursday but lost the second 1-6 to the British top player. When Murray chased from 0-3 down to 3-3 in the decider, the match was suspended for bad light to gratify Fish, but Murray believed the decision was " ridiculous" and protested to the umpire.
When the match was resumed at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Murray could barely find the momentum before surrendered in the tiebreak.
Fish, 28, continued his momentum to beat Frenchman Llodra 6-4, 6-4.
The other semifinal is going to play between Rainer Schuettler from Germany and the seventh seed Sam Querrey from United States.
