Vasco da Gama defeated Corinthians-PR 2-1 on Wednesday for a 3-1 aggregate score, sending them into the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Cup.

Celebrating the 83rd anniversary of the Sao Januario stadium, Vasco da Gama scored the game's first goal in the 11th minute when Phillipe Coutinho took a corner kick and Elton leaped in between two defenders to head the ball into the back of the goal.

Corinthians-PR tied the match in the 71st minute. Off a corner kick, the ball rolled loose in front of the Vasco da Gama goal. Leandro waited patiently for it to arrive, quickly slamming it past goalkeeper Fernando Prass.

As the game was coming to an end, Vasco da Gama scored one last time. In the 87th minute, Dodo rolled the ball off to a cutting Carlos Alberto. The midfielder dribbled through the defense and pelted it into the upper left corner of the net.

In the quarterfinals, Vasco da Gama will face the winner between Vitoria and Goias. Vitoria won the first leg 4-0. Goias will need to win by a blow-out at home in order to survive into the next round.
