Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor has announced on Monday his retirement from national team, citing he is "still haunted" by the attack on his team at the African Cup of Nations in January.

Gunmen killed two members of the team's delegation before the tournament began in Angola.

"Following the tragic events during January's African Cup of Nations, in which two of my fellow countrymen were killed by terrorists in Angola, I have made the very difficult decision to retire from international football," said Adebayor, the Manchester City striker, on Monday.
