Vancouver Winter Olympics organizers announced Tuesday that several competitions and training runs have been postponed or cancelled because of weather conditions in Whistler.

Men's super combined downhill and men's super combined slalom, scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed to a later date.

The ladies' downhill 3rd training run, also scheduled for Tuesday on Whistler Creekside, has been cancelled for the same reason.

According to Gunter Hujara, FIS men's Alpine skiing chief race director, it's "not a panic situation."

"Last night we knew we could not have a men's super combined downhill event today. But through the night the sky will clear and it will be cold enough. It will freeze. The conditions will be close to the same as for the men's downhill race yesterday," he told the media.

"The men's Super-G event will occur as previously scheduled on Friday, February 19. The difference now is that men's super-combined will be held on Sunday 21st and the men's giant slalom will be held on February 23rd", he added.

Peter Bosinger, VANOC manager of Alpine skiing, explained that the ladies' downhill event will happen on Wednesday and all other ladies' events will occur as scheduled.

"We schedule the Olympic Winter Games with reserve days just so we can get through these sorts of challenges," he said.
