Wang Xinyu from China won the women's 800m freestyle final with a time of 8:37.88 at the East Asian Games on Thursday.

Kazuki Wakanami from Japan had to settle for the silver medal at 8:42.26, followed by another Japanese Natsumi Iwashita in the third place at 8:47.23.
