Dutch soccer first division league champion AFC Ajax signed a three-year contract with the Chinese Football Association (CFA) on Wednesday, aiming to help groom Chinese youth players and improve coaches' levels in the future.
Nan Yong, vice-president of the CFA, revealed that China had invited some trainers from Ajax to be the instructors for Chinese elite youth training course and some coaching staffs from Chinese national youth team and technical department were also sent to study in the Dutch club.
"Through these projects, we had a better understanding about the quality and idea for Ajax youth training program. Meanwhile, both sides have shown a strong interest to further develop the collaboration. After discussion, we have reached the agreement for next step," said Nan.
Based on the three-year contract (2010-2012), both sides will cooperate in the training of young talented players and coaches, the build-up of professional clubs' youth pools, and improvement of Chinese national Olympic and youth team's competitive levels.
Nan also disclosed that Ajax will play a friendly match in China next year.
