British newspaper Guardian reported Tuesday that Formula One world champion Jenson Button is close to sign a three-year deal with woking-based team McLaren.
The report said Button has agreed terms with Mclaren and the deal would be worth 6 million pounds (about 10.10 million U.S. dollars) a year, meaning the 29-year-old driver could double his current salary and partner fellow British Lewis Hamilton.
Button's previous team Brawn, which wished to keep the driver but refused to give him a raise on salary, was taken over by German carmaker Mercedes on Monday.
