Bayern humiliates Dortmund 5-1, Hamburg on top

German record champions Bayern Munich humiliated Dortmund 5-1 at the latter's Signal-Iduna Park on Saturday's Bundesliga powerful clash, while Hamuburg came back on the top of the table with a 3-1 win over VfB Stuttgart.

Bayern delivered further evidence of their return to form, dishing out a 5-1 drubbing to Borussia Dortmund to secure their first away win of the current Bundesliga campaign.

The result moved the German record champions into the top third of the table following an indifferent start, ending Dortmund's 19-game unbeaten run at the Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmunds defender Mats Hummels opened the scoring with a header in the 10th minute after a freekick cross coming from midfielder Nuri Sahin. But in the 36th minute Bayern showed his champion skills, when German striker Mario Gomez equalised with a header from near distance after a freekick by Bastian Schweinsteiger.

After the interval Schweinsteiger hammered the ball from 20m distance into the net and doubled the score. At the 65th minute Bayern's midfielder Franck Ribery raised the lead to 3-1 by a wonderful right footed direct free kick into the right angle.

Afterwards Bayerns youngster striker Thomas Mueller netted the ball from 11-meter distance in the 78 minute. Only 10 minutes later Mueller again showed his potential with a brilliant goal from 20 meters.

On Saturday night, powerhouse Hamburg showed a convincing performance against former Bundesliga champions Stuttgart. Goals from Mladen Petric, Eljero Elia and Ze Roberto were enough for unbeaten Hamburg to see off Stuttgart and keep them ahead of Bayer Leverkusen on goal difference.

Suttgart started highly motivated but failed to score in the first 30 minutes of the game. It was Hamburg who took the lead by striker Mladen Petric. Petric scored from 20-meter distance into the right corner.

Hamburg dominated the game and doubled the lead after interval.At the 58th minute Eljero Elia hammered the ball from 20 meters into the bottom right corner right footed. Only 4 minutes later Stuttgarts striker newcomer Pavel Progrebnyak shortens the score.

Stuttgart was unable to score the equaliser. It was again Hamburg who tripled the lead. Midfielder Ze Roberto sealed Hamburgs victory with a shot from the penalty area. With this defeat over Stuttgart, Hamburg secures its Bundesliga top position.

Another enthralling match on Saturday was between reigning Bundesliga champion Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Captain Simon Rolfes struck twice and Stefan Kiessling also scored before Wolfsburg, who had keeper Diego Benaglio sent off in the first half, battled back with goals from Zvjezdan Misimovic and a Grafite penalty.

Leverkusen also finished with 10 men but survived the final 10 minutes to get the points.

In Mainz, Hertha Berlin earned his fourth defeat in row by losing to the host 2-1.

Witha a weak season starting, village club Hoffenheim rose up with a faultless performance on Saturday by dashing Bochum 3-0.

The match between Eintrach Frankfurt and SC Freiburg was not exciting at all. Both teams were harmless in their offensive actions. It took 68 minutes until Frankfurts defender Maik Franz scored. In the dying minutes of the game it was Frankfurt midfielder Alexander Meier who doubled the lead after a counter attack.

Bundesliga newboys Nuernberg won at home over Borussia Moenchengladbach. Immediately at the beginning midfielder Peer Kluge scored the only goal at the 6th minute.

On Sunday, the remaining two games of the 5th round are set to play. Bremen are to face Hannover and Schalke 04 are to visit Koeln.
