Chelsea came from behind with three second half goals to beat hosts Sunderland 3-1 in the Premier League Tuesday while the Wolves defeated Wigan 1-0 to claim their first win in the season.
Darren Bent put the home side ahead in the 18th minute as he fired a blocked ball from Kenwyne Jone past the Blues' goalkeeper Petr Cech. After the early shock, Chelsea launched the attacks more vehemently but failed to make any achievement in front of a desperate defending home team.
It was until seven minutes after the interval that Chelsea equalized when German midfielder Michael Ballack slotted home from a corner. Ivanovic's corner knocked on the post and Ballack finished a left-foot shot easily inside the post.
Eight minutes later, Chelsea earned a penalty as Didier Drogba was fouled by George McCartney in the box. Frank Lampard duly dispatched the penalty before Portuguese Deco locked the score on 3-1 with a stunning shot in the 70th minute.
In Wigan, Irish Andy Keogh headed home the only goal of the match in the sixth minute after Nenad Milijas hoisted a long freekick into the box.
Wigan dominated the game after the interval but failed to change the score.
