Jose Mourinho Monday extended his contract with Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan by a year until 2012 .
By doing so, the Portuguese, who led Inter to their fourth straight title in his first season in charge, put an end to the rumors linking him with taking over as coach of Real Madrid.
"In response to the wish of the coach to continue the project started together a year ago, a wish welcomed with pleasure by the club as a sign of attachment and winning spirit, Inter announce the extension of Jose Mourinho's contract until June 30, 2012," read a statement from the club.
The priority of Mourinho's aims will definitely be ending Inter Milan's Champions League drought -- they won the last of their two titles in 1965.
Inter Milan lost to Manchester United in the first knockout round this season.
