Tight schedule likely to hold Yi from playing in national games
Adjust font size:

New Jersey Nets' forward Yi Jianlian might have problem to play for Guangdong at the 11th China National Games in October due to the tight schedule.

Yi, who was registered by the Guangdong team for the National Games, doesn't travel with the team here to play the qualifying-round matches.

He was named into the squad of the new national team to play at the Asian Basketball Championships in August in Tianjin, China, and was supposed to compete at the National Games in Shandong Province, which was scheduled from Oct. 15-23.

Rumors say the National Games might be postponed for five days, which means the men's basketball competitions might be concluded on Oct. 28, the day when the 2008-2009 NBA season kicked off.

Guangdong's team officials were not reachable for comments. But some team officials said they also heard of the rumors that the schedule of the National Games might be postponed.
