Seven young Chinese pairs all made it to the mixed doubles second round at the world table tennis championships on Wednesday.

Hao Shuai/Chang Chenchen, seeded sixth, didn't break a sweat as they beat Malaysia's Kho Mao Sheng/Chiu Soo Jiin 11-1, 11-6, 11-5, 11-3.

The other six Chinese teams reached the second round in the same fashion.

The mixed doubles appears to be the most open competition in the championships as China took all of its big names off the event.

Wang Liqin, Ma Lin and Zhang Yining, who have involved in nine doubles victories in the world championships, didn't enter a doubles event at all.

Wang Hao, Ma Long, Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia also opted out of the mixed doubles event, making Hao/Chang the highest seeded Chinese.

Huang Biao, head of the Chinese team, said that the absence of Chinese doubles experts will "open a door" for young Chinese players as well as their rivals.

The top two seeds each dropped a set in their opening victory.

Ko Lai Chak/Tie Yana from Hong Kong, China, overcame an early setback to beat Marcos Madrid/Mercedes Madrid of Mexico 7-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-4, 11-7.

South Korea's Joo Se Hyuk/Park Mi Young, the second seeds, downed Ahmed Ali Saleh/Sara Hassan from Egypt 11-4, 11-3, 11-1, 14-16, 11-7.
