Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose has been named the Rookie of the Year, said the NBA on Wednesday.
The point guard received 111 first place votes from a panel of 120 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada.
He led the league rookies in assists with 6.3 in average and was second in scoring in the regular season.
In Chicago's playoff against Boston Celtics on Saturday, Rose scored 36 points to level Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record for points scored by a rookie in their first playoff game.
Memphis Grizzlies guard O.J Mayo was the second and New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez was the third in the voting.
