Real Madird president Vicente Boluda promised on Tuesday that the club would hold elections in early June to elect his replacement.
Boluda stepped into the role of Real Madrid President following the resignation of Ramon Calderon for his implication in a vote rigging scandal.
However, he always insisted he would call elections in the summer and that he would not be a candidate.
With next season due to kick off at the end of August, it is in Real Madrid's interest to hold the elections as soon as possible after the current campaign ends so that whoever is elected can sign players and organize the backroom staff.
Speaking on radio program "Al Primer Toque" Boluda promised that is what will indeed happen.
"At the very latest they will be held in the first or second week of June," he promised.
Boluda also discussed his chances of overhauling Barcelona's six point lead at the top of the Primera Liga to win a third consecutive league title.
"There are still 10 games to be played and Barcelona will slip up," he said.
