Chinese Xie Xingfang's hope to be a four-time winner in Hong Kong Badminton Open was shattered as she lost to Wang Chen from Hong Kong in the women's singles final on Sunday.

It took Wang, a former Chinese national team player who now represents Hong Kong, only 45 minutes to claim the title against defending champion Xie, winning 21-16, 10-21 and 21-10.

Wang became the first Hong Kong shuttler to win the title of the tournament, but she said she would not change mind to stop her professional career.

"I have decided to retire from the professional badminton and I won't change my mind. The title is a good thing to me and to Hong Kong badminton players," said Wang.

"I will not take part in the singles competition, but I will play some doubles events," she added.
