China launches 'Yaogan V' remote-sensing satellite

| Remote-sensing satellite "Yaogan V" is launched with a Long March-4B carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province, Dec. 15, 2008. The satellite will be used for data collection and transmission involving land resources surveys, environmental surveillance and protection, urban planning, crop yield estimates, disaster prevention and reduction, and space science experiments.
