The International Day of Nowruz, New Year's Day in Persian, was celebrated in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on March, 21. Delegations from dozens of countries, including the leaders of the countries sharing the same culture, participated in the celebrations. Being a multi-ethnic country, China also sent over a delegation.
In 2009, Nowruz was officially registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
