Many Chinese civilians Friday took a visit here to mark the 79th anniversary of September 18 Incident of 1931, or Mukden Incident. Japan on September 18, 1931 laid siege to Mukden (now Shenyang) and began the military occupation of northeast China, then known as Manchuria, until Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945.
