Britain looks to China for fresh opportunities

British Prime Minister David Cameron's visit to China from Tuesday to Wednesday shows that Britain is trying to seek new sources of economic growth to escape the shadow of the financial crisis.
The rise of China brings the world development opportunities. The British do not want to miss the opportunity for common development. Cameron visited China with his country's largest-ever official delegation.
In the eyes of Cameron and his delegation, China has what the British needs most: new markets, economic vitality and fresh prospects.
At present, the economic growth rate in the UK is a mere 0.8 percent while China's is 9.6 percent. There is no doubt that a closer economic relationship with China will benefit the UK's economic recovery.
China also needs the UK. China needs to learn from the British in the high, green and new technology industries, as well as in financial management and other fields.
However, bilateral cooperation in other areas is not so strong. The UK's diplomacy focus centers on the Atlantic axis.
Although there are cooperative opportunities in international issues such as environmental protection, carbon emission reduction and Iran denuclearization and so on, there are also possibilities of friction.
It should be noted that the current UK government is a two-party coalition government. Such a government could speak in two voices. This deserves our attention when handling bilateral relations with the UK.
