The Beijing Olympic torch relay kicked off its Nanjing leg on Tuesday, the last segment in east China's Jiangsu Province.
The 12.9-kilometer relay, kicking off at 8:00 AM local time, started from the East Square of the city's Olympic Sports Center and the Drum Tower Park.
Like previous four legs in Jiangsu, all torch bearers and spectators in Nanjing observed a minute of silence at the launching ceremony to the victims of the 8.0-magnitude earthquake struck in Sichuan Province.
Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu, will see the torch pass through a series of landmarks including Nanjing University, Provincial Government of Jiangsu, and also visit Nanjing Treasure Dockyard Relics of Ming Dynasty, which was the world's biggest royal dockyard.
