Jin Jing said, "Their behavior and act tarnished the Olympic spirit. What do athletes want after four years of training? They want to show themselves in the Olympic arena, to compete for the world's top sports honors. The Olympic Games is an event for everyone on the earth. How could they do this to the Olympics? "

Jin, from Shanghai, lost part of her right leg when she was nine after suffering a malignant tumor in her ankle. She successfully survived the cancer and became a member of the Chinese national wheelchair fencing team. She has been called the "Smiling Angel in a Wheelchair" and the "Most Beautiful Torchbearer" by netizens after showing incredible courage in protecting the Olympic torch.

When Jin Jing was attacked by protestors, overseas Chinese rushed to her side to help her. One of them recorded the moment with his camera. The face of the person who tried to grab the torch has raised harsh criticism on the internet.

Many Chinese stood out to protect the sacred flame during the torch relay in London and Paris. Pictures on the internet show the touching moments. Visiting Chinese and Chinese living in Europe flooded into London and Paris for the relays, carrying China's national flags and the Olympic banners. One blogger said he was offered money to join the protest, but turned it down and stood with other Chinese to show support for the Beijing Olympics. They overshadowed the protestors with China's national flags as they tried to draw media attention. At Trafalgar Square in London, when two Tibet independence separatists showed up with a banner in the middle of the fountain, a Chinese student jumped into the icy water without hesitation, waving China's national flag. The footage of the picture reads "Let the ugly Tibet Independence separatists know that we are united."
