Chinese men's team failed to reach the last eight after losing
214-218 to Malaysia at the "Good Luck Beijing" Olympic archery
trial in Beijing on Wednesday.
The Chinese team didn't play well in the field. Before shooting
the last group of the arrows, Chinese team was left behind with
157-166.
Although Chinese team shot two consecutive 10 points and four 9
points in the last group of the arrows, they still lost the game
with 214-218 due to lagging behind too much in the previous
competition.
The Chinese men's team, consisting of archers Jiang Lin, Xue
Haifeng and Yong Fujun , lost the chance to enter the
quarter-finals following women's exit a day earlier.
The archers of the Malaysian team are Chu Sian Cheng, Muhammad
Marvawi Sulaiman and Mohd Khalmizam Wan AB Aziz. In the
preliminaries round, Malaysia ranked 6th with 1,975, while Chinese
team ranked 11th with 1,948.
Chinese archer Yong Fujun was dismayed with the result. "I'm not
satisfied with my own performance. I think I have only exerted to
60 percent of my full ability. The performance of the whole team
was not that satisfactory either," said Yong.
"I think we had some problems when dealing with some shots,"
added he.
Yong said he was not in form during the match as he shot a seven
in the match.
"Actually I did not feel bad while shooting that arrow (seven
pointer). Maybe there was something wrong with my use of strength,
" said Yong.
In dealing with the pressure, Yong said: "We should focus on our
daily training, and try to turn pressure into motivation."
"I was not nervous during the match, but I have not been in
really good shape recently.
"I will try to perform in the individual round. Now I do not
have very high expectations. I will treat everything with a
peaceful mindset."
