Different walks of life in Myanmar Monday appraised China's successful hosting of the 29th Beijing Olympic Games with China topping the gold medal table for the first time.

In an interview with Xinhua, U Ko Ko, Chief Executive Officer of the Yangon Media Group, said that the state-run Myanmar Radio and Television-4 (MRTV-4) telecast live both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games which were watched by Myanmar audiences with much wonder.

He commented that the Beijing Olympic Games as a whole was quite wonderful in all aspects which witnessed to the world China's rapid economic development and its real strength. The grabbing of so many gold medals was inseparable with such development, he said.

U Khin Maung Lwin, Joint General Secretary of the Myanmar Olympic Committee, stressed in another interview with Xinhua that the Beijing Olympic Games was the grandest and the highest-level edition of the Olympiad with full preparation and satisfactory accommodation.

The pocketing of medals of the Chinese athletes, which soared to the first from the previous third and second, deserves admiration, he added.

In more interview with Xinhua, Lai Sonesheng, who is Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce and returned here shortly after attending the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, said overseas Chinese in Myanmar are excited and take pride over the success of the Beijing Olympic Games.

At a time when China's relief efforts in Sichuan post-earthquake has enabled the world to witness the country's solidarity, this time the Beijing Olympic Games has also enabled foreigners again to witness the genuine China and Chinese people.
