Sky Tower lights gold for NZ Olympians
Adjust font size:

The 328-meter-high Sky Tower in Auckland will be light gold on Friday in support of New Zealand's Olympic athletes going for gold in Beijing.

To mark the opening ceremony in Beijing on the significant calendar date of 08/08/08, the Tower will light the Auckland skyline gold. The tower will remain gold for the duration of the Olympics.

The Tower was relit on Aug. 4, following the end of the national power saving campaign. The 328-meter Sky Tower has been an Auckland icon for 11 years and is often themed to mark important community events. It draws 800,000 visitors annually.
