Russia aims for more medals at the Beijing Olympic Games, Russian delegation chief said Tuesday after their flag-raising ceremony in the Olympic Village.
Vladimir Vasin, chef de mission of the and vice president of the Russian Olympic Committee, said they were strong in many sport events such as tennis, wrestling, boxing and rhythmic gymnastics, adding they were capable of claiming many medals.
They would try to win more medals. The more, the better, said Vasin.
Russia sent an 847-member delegation to the Beijing Olympics, including 467 athletes.
In Athens, Russia finished the third in the medals table after the United States and China, coming home with 92 medals (27 golds, 27 silvers and 38 bronzes).
In Sydney and Atlanta, Russia ranked the second on the gold medal lists.
