Britain hopes to secure a place among the top 10 countries on the medal list during the upcoming Beijing Olympics, a senior British sports official said in London Tuesday.

Colin Moynihan, chairman of British Olympic Association (BOA), said the British Olympic team which came No. 10 four years ago in Athens is aiming at No. 4 in the 2012 London Games, so it would like to be somewhere in between during the Beijing event.

The BOA head said Britain has sent 330 athletes to Beijing, and they have very big chances to win medals in cycling, rowing and archery.

The rowing-medalist-turned official said British athletes are well prepared for the Beijing Games, with many of them still carrying on training in Beijing, Macao and Japan to optimize their conditions.
