Tianjin airport will adopt special anti-explosion security checks from July 20 to ensure the safety of the civil air transport for the Beijing Olympic Games, and the passengers must arrive at the airport much more earlier, said the airport authorities on Tuesday.

According to the airport, all passengers and those coming to receive or seeing people off must undergo the checks for the flammable and explosive substances at the terminal entrance.

From July 20 on, Tianjin airport will keep a security checking passage at the entrance hall on the first floor and two security checking passages at the exit hall on the second floor. Within the terminal, the routine baggage and security checks will go on as before.

The airport warns that anyone who rejects the checks will be punished.

Tianjin, an Olympic co-host city adjacent to Beijing, will host 11 group stage matches of men's and women's soccer from Aug. 6-13 and a women's soccer quarterfinal on Aug. 15. Moreover, teams from more than 20 countries and regions set up their pre-Games training bases in Tianjin.
