Vice President Xi Jinping said Tuesday that Olympic venues outside Beijing should give priority to safety and he expected audiences to watch the Games with good manners.

Xi, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when visiting the Qinhuangdao venue for Olympic football games in north China's Hebei Province.
"The cities of Qinhuangdao, Tianjin, Shanghai and Shenyang, as the collaborative host cities for the Beijing Olympic football games, should stick to safety in all preparation work to satisfy international communities and athletes across the world," said Xi, adding that football was the most high profile of the games in Olympics.
"Do ensure the safety of traveling, eating and living for athletes and other guests," said Xi to hotel staff when visiting the Holiday Inn Sea View Qinhuangdao Hotel which was designated to accommodate all the officials and athletes during the event.
In addition, Xi visited the country's female football team, training in Qinhuangdao. He encouraged the women to unite, train hard and make fresh achievements in the Games.
