Beijing is trying its best to solve the environmental and
traffic problems during the Olympic Games to offer a comfortable
stay for athletes and visitors from worldwide, Chinese Foreign
Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said in Beijing Thursday.
He said preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies of
the Games was proceeding smoothly and wonderful performance would
be presented to the world then.
"All Beijing citizens and the Chinese people will open arms and
warmly welcome athletes, coaches and audience from all over the
world and we hope they will have a good time in Beijing," Liu
said.
"I believe with joint efforts from China and the world, the
Beijing Olympics will succeed," he said.
China expected no political interference to the Olympics which
runs against to the spirit of the Olympic Charter, he added.
