Hungary became the second team to advance to Thursday's semifinals by taking Romania 34-30 in the Women's Handball quarterfinals on Tuesday, August 19.

Monika Kovacsicz was the top scorer for Hungary, shooting seven goals from nine attempts, and Ramona Maier the best for Romania, scoring 11 from 13.
