Cuba's women sabreur Gonzalez Pozo Mailyn beat Senegalese Toure Nafi 15-7 in Beijing Saturday at the first round preliminaries of the 2008 Olympic Games women's sabre individual event.
"I'm disappointed with the result. I'm usually good at defense, but today my defense was just poor," said Nafi.
She said the Beijing Games is a very good experience for her and in the following days she would watch other fencers compete and also tour around the city.
The African country has two more fencers to the Games, men sabreurs Keita Kamadou and Thiam Abdoulaye.
In another match of this round, Canada's Sassine Sandra upset South Africa's Wood Elvira 15-2.
