Swindell Georgina and Swindell Caroline, twin sisters who have snatched altogether 10 medals including six gold medals in women's rowing, hope to make into the final in the women's pair competition at Beijing Olympics, their coach told Xinhua in Shunyi Olympic Canoeing/Kayaking Park on Sunday.
Dick Tonks, who also coaches men's doubles, said:"We hope to make it into the final."
"We now practise twice a day. We come early, at about nine o'clock and stay here the whole day. We train in the morning and in the afternoon," he said.
The sisters, who were just out of water from their training, said that they trained for two hours each time.
"The water course is good," one of them said.
On the challenges they will face in the Beijing Olympics, Tonks said the Chinese team and British team are strong.
"China won the World Cup races and the World Championship," he said.
On the weather conditions, Tonks said that he did not think they would have much impact on the performance of their athletes.
The twin sisters, born on October 10, 1978 in Hastings of New Zealand, started rowing in 1994. They began to reap medals in 2001 and came out the first in the W2x race in Athens Olympics with a result of 07:01.79.
