Team China doesn't have high hopes for this day, but today the first gold medal in badminton, a Chinese specialty, will be awarded. Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen, Du Jing/Yu Yang and Zhang Yawen/Wei Yili are likely to turn the final into a Chinese 'civil war'. In women's 78+ kg judo, Tong Wen, the Chinese "super jumbo," is a strong candidate for the gold.

Additionally, Jiang Yuyuan and her teammates on the artistic gymnastics team will launch a fierce challenge against Shawn Johnson from the USA for the women's all-round title.
