China is the undisputed king of diving. The Chinese diving team claimed five golds at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and took a record six at the 2004 Athens Olympics, contributing more Olympic golds for China than any other team. Qin Kai, paired with veteran Wang Feng is considered the most powerful contender in today's men's 3m synchro competition. The pair confirmed their supremacy by taking gold in the 2007 Melbourne World Championships. Now they are planning to extend their winning streak on home soil.
Unbeaten throughout the year Chen Ying, was named China's best shot in 2007. This year she has been short of form, but she and teammate Fei Fengji remain hot favorites in today's women's 25m pistol (30+30 shots).
Li Hongli, winner of three consecutive golds in weightlifting world championships, and China's women's gymnastics team will also go all out in their fight for gold.
