A Chinese website has developed its own slogan to foster some
Olympic-size teamwork in the run-up to the Beijing Games.
"One Team One Dream" recalls the official Games slogan of "One
World, One Dream," something that Sohu.com Inc. (NASDAQ:SOHU), the
official sponsor of Internet Content Service (ICS) for the Games,
hopes will bring out the best from its staff.
"As the first official sponsor of Internet content services in
the history of the Olympic Games, Sohu will try its hardest to
build the best official website for the Games, bringing a new
Olympic experience to Internet users," said Charles Zhang, chairman
and CEO of Sohu.com.
The new corporate slogan is part of this drive.
Like the Olympics, only the fittest survive when it comes to
working on Sohu's latest projects, said Chen Luming, vice-president
of the company's Olympic Project.
Sohu has assembled a crack squad of leading department members
for the works commissioned by the Beijing Organizing Committee for
the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), he said.
According to the agreement between the two sides, Sohu will
construct, operate and host the official BOCOG website,
www.beijing2008.com.
Since late 2006, Sohu.com has opened a special channel for the
Games, a sports channel, and video broadcasting, along with the
official website for BOCOG, to display the image of the Beijing
Olympic Games.
In 2008, Sohu will have 300 people reporting on various
competitions to maintain comprehensive coverage.
The official BOCOG website will be developed into a
comprehensive information platform for the Games in five
languages.
"We believe that with Sohu's extensive social impact and secure
Internet technology and high-quality and efficient content, BOCOG
will be able to meet the expectations and demands of the general
public to understand, participate in and support the Beijing 2008
Games," said Wang Wei, BOCOG executive vice-president and
secretary-general.
