China's eastern coastal city of Yantai has seen a bustling scene brought about by the increasing prosperity in the local kite trade.
A kite businessman told the local news website that his kites attract a lot of buyers every day, including local residents and tourists who queue up at a seashore square for the kites.
The hot spring sales make a sharp contrast with the previous seasons when there used to be just few buyers on weekends, businessman Zhang said. He also found that kites that fly better or have unique designs are more popular than others.
Businessman Zhang revealed that kites bearing designs of the 2008 Beijing Olympic mascots of "Fuwa" or five-ring Olympic flag are also people's favorites.
