The U.S. military said on Saturday that two of its soldiers were killed north of Baghdad, while it warned of potential suicide bomb attacks in the capital.

A soldier assigned to Multi-National Division-Baghdad was killed when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb at about 13:45 p.m. (1045 GMT) on Friday during a combat patrol in an area located just north of Baghdad, a military statement said.

Also on Friday, a second soldier assigned to Multi-National Division-North was killed when a booby-trapped car went off near his patrol in Salahudin province, another statement said.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to about 4,038 since the Iraq war broke out in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.

The attacks came as the U.S. military warned that numerous of al-Qaida militants entered Baghdad planning to carry out suicide bomb attacks in the capital.

"Credible intelligence gathered by Multi-National Division - Baghdad indicates al-Qaida in Iraq is planning suicide bomber attacks in Baghdad against the Iraqi people in the near future," a military statement said.
