Jordan's King Abdullah II Wednesday sent a letter Barack Obama to congratulate him on his election as the U.S. president.
"I look forward to working with the U.S. to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East and to reach a solution to Palestinian-Israeli conflict on two-state basis, that safeguards rights of all concerned parties," said the king.
The monarch also hoped to work closely with Obama to further bolster bilateral cooperation in different fields.
Barack Obama created history by defeating Republican John McCain in the race for the White House, becoming the first African- American to be elected president of the United States.
