Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat on Wednesday sent congratulation message to Barack Obama on his election as President of the United States, saying he hoped that warm relations between the two countries would be strengthened.

Somchai conveyed his message through US ambassador to Thailand Eric G. John while visiting a U.S. presidential election exhibition which also showed vote counting results at a Bangkok hotel.

The message read: Thailand has followed this exciting election campaign with great interest. It was inspiring to see history in the marking and the workings of democracy at its best. I wish you all the best and great success with your new endeavors.

Expressing his confidence that after Obama has won the presidential election, relations between Thailand and the US would be further cherished, Somchai said he hoped cooperation between the two nations would be strengthened for the benefits of peoples of the two countries.
