Vladimir Rakhmanin, Russian special envoy to the six-party
talks, arrived in Beijing on Tuesday morning to participate in a
meeting which gathers chief delegates to the talks.
Rakhmanin told reporters at the airport that the core task for
the meeting focuses on the implementation of the February 13
agreement, stressing that Russia would cohere to the peaceful means
to resolve the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.
Rakhmanin said Russia has an open mind to hold a
ministerial-level meeting on the nuclear issue but necessary
conditions are required.
He didn't further explain what are those necessary
conditions.
The two-day meeting of the six-party talks on the Korean
Peninsula nuclear issue is planned to start here on July 18, during
which the chief delegates are expected to discuss issues related to
the initial actions for denuclearization and explore arrangements
of steps that will follow.
