Senator Hillary Clinton's name emerged Thursday as a possible candidate for secretary of state in the upcoming Obama administration, CNN and NBC reported citing sources from President-elect Barack Obama's transition team.
One source close to Clinton said she "would not necessarily dismiss such an offer."
The former first lady said Monday she would love to remain a Senator, "but I want to be a good partner and I want to do everything I can to make sure Obama's agenda is going to be successful."
Clinton was Obama's main competitor for Democratic presidential nomination in the primary elections earlier this year.
But after being defeated, she endorsed Obama and campaigned actively for him.
