Tariq Khan, a leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was shot dead in southern port city of Karachi, local TV channel reported Friday evening.
Tariq Khan, vice president of PAL-N in southern Sindh province, was shot near Tariq road in Karachi and died after being shifted to a hospital, private Dawn TV said.
The TV channel quoted police as saying that Tariq Khan was driving when the motorcyclists fired shots at his car.
While talking to media, PML-N spokesman Sadiqul Farooq said his party will take proper actions against those who are behind the assassination.
No further details are available.
The PML-N, led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is the second largest party in Pakistan's parliament.
