The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice concluded her two-day China visit and left Beijing for Tokyo Wednesday morning.
During the visit, Rice discussed with President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on the development of Sino-US relations and issues of common concern, including the Taiwan issue, nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, and Iran nuclear issue.
Rice reiterated the opposition of the United States to the "proposed referendum" on Taiwan's United Nations' membership, and its commitment to the one-China policy.
The Chinese side also expressed willingness to work with the United States to cautiously handle the Taiwan issue and maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
Rice started her China tour after a visit to South Korea, where she attended the inauguration ceremony of South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on Monday.
