China is "actively considering" attending an international summit of the G20 forum of countries on the global financial crisis, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

"China wants the international community to coordinate and strengthen cooperation to jointly cope with the global financial crisis and maintain global financial stability," said Qin Gang at a regular press conference.

China would maintain communication and coordination on the issue with all parties.

U.S. President George W. Bush has called a meeting of heads of the G20 members at the White House next month. After being urged at weekend talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy to hold a summit to review the whole global financial structure, Bush's office said the heads of 20 developed and emerging countries would gather in Washington on Nov. 15.
