The follow-up Chinese troop of a 172-men engineering unit is scheduled to leave for Sudan's Darfur on Wednesday to join the hybrid peacekeeping force of the United Nations and the African Union, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday.
Spokesman Liu Jianchao announced at a regular press conference that the troop will leave Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province.
China has been committed to sending a 315-men multi-functional engineering unit to Darfur and has dispatched 143, the first batch of UN-AU peacekeepers in place in Darfur.
"We are ready to work together with the international community to continue to make our own contribution to the early realization of peace, stability and development in Darfur," said Liu.
