FM: China Hopes for Further Progress in Peace Process in Nepal
Adjust font size:

China sincerely hopes that the peace process in Nepal will continue to advance, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu in Beijing Friday.

Nepal's ruling Seven-Party Alliance (SPA) government reached an agreement with insurgents early on Wednesday morning on all major contentious issues, raising hopes of permanent peace in the mountainous country.

The parties agreed on all major issues including the role of the monarchy, an interim parliament and interim government, elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) and arms management.

China is happy to see the big steps taken in the Nepalese peace process, and welcomes the efforts made by the parties concerned to achieve permanent peace, Jiang said.

China sincerely hopes that further progress would be made in Nepal's peace process and that the country would experience peace, stability and development as soon as possible, the spokeswoman noted.
