Four Chinese students won gold medals in the 40th International Chemistry Olympiad held in Hungary's capital Budapest on Sunday.
The four students, namely Fu Yongping from Fujian Province, Li Xiuyuan from Guangdong Province, Zhang Chi from Sichuan Province and Jiang Xiqian from Jiangsu Province, performed remarkably and won gold medals among 261 students coming from 67 countries and areas of the world. Fu Yongping's total score takes the first place among all the competitors.
The Russian team also won four gold medals. The Korean Republic team won three gold medals and one bronze medal. The Chinese Taibei team won two gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal. The Ukraine team and the Poland team also got two gold medals respectively.
The 40th International Chemistry Olympiad opened on July 13 in Budapest. A total of 30 student won gold medals, 53 students won silver medals and 79 students won bronze medals.
The 41th International Chemistry Olympiad will be held in Cambridge, England next year.
