Kenya's Development of Women Organization (DWO) and the Ministry
of Gender, Sports, Culture and Social Services on Thursday get some
office equipment donated by China.
The equipment, including computers, laser jet printers, cameras,
TV sets, scanners, projectors and others worth US$50,000, were
donated by All-China Women's Federation and handed over by Chinese
embassy in Nairobi, the capital.
"The grants indicated the cordial friendship among the hundreds
of thousands of women in China and Kenya," Chinese ambassador to
Kenya Guo Chongli said at the hand-over ceremony.
"We hope that the grants will be helpful for the Kenyan women in
the fields of raising the education level and quality and
participating the social activities," Guo said.
DWO National Chairman Zipporah Kittony and Ministry of Gender
Permanent Secretary Rachel Dzombo thanked the Chinese side for the
valuable help, and said cooperation in all sectors including
advancement of women will be further enhanced between the two
sides.
"Kenya has a long history of cooperation in different sectors
with China. The ministry appreciates the assistance given by the
All-China Women's Federation and pledges to continue the
collaboration between the two countries," Dzombo said.
The grants were promised when an All-China Women's Federation
delegation visited Kenya in September 2005.
