Iraq's Kirkuk explosion kills 5, wounds 36

At least 5 people were killed and 36 injured on Thursday during an explosion in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, police source said.

A car bomb was detonated near a restaurant in Rehim Awo, northern district of Kirkuk, some 250 kilometers north of Baghdad. The blast killed 5 and wounded at least 36 people.

Sporadic attacks continue in Iraqi cities despite the U.S. and Iraqi officials announced a relative lull in violence during the past months.
